West Virginia Court Security Fund
The West Virginia Court Security Fund was established to enhance the security of all county court facilities in West Virginia. The West Virginia Court Security Fund is mandated under Chapter 51, Article
3, Section 14 et seq. Administration of the fund
has been placed with the Division of Criminal Justice
Services pursuant to legislative rule adopted pursuant
to Chapter 51, Article 3, Section 17 of the West Virginia Code.
Goals and objectives include
- Review security plans to enhance the security of all court facilities.
- Award funds to purchase equipment, hire personnel, train bailiffs, or make other expenditures after review and approval of security plans.
- Compile and maintain a list of available law enforcement officers that are qualified to serve as bailiffs in court facilities. Distribute this list to all county sheriffs for recruiting and hiring temporary, part-time or occasional bailiffs to exercise all the powers and duties of bailiffs in the court facilities in their counties.
- Set minimum training standards and designate specific agencies or institutions to administer training for bailiffs.
